Insurance
I am in-network with Medicare, BCBS, and Aetna (multiple plans, please check directory). I take the following Blue Cross plans: Blue Advantage, Blue Options, Blue Select, Classic Blue, NC State Health Plan (clear pricing project- no copay), Blue High Performance Network EPO, and MyBlue with Duke Health POS. If I am in-network, you will be responsible for your copay or co-insurance after paying your deductible. For some BCBS plans, I am considered a specialist (higher copay). Please check with your insurance company.
I am out of network with Blue Value/Home or ALL Medicare Advantage plans (please check your coverage, many have very good OON benefits). In-network insurance will reimburse me directly for services provided. You are responsible for the insurance copay/coinsurance at the time of service.
Other insurance plans often have out-of-network benefits that are comparable to in-network benefits, once you pay your deductible. You are responsible for determining your mental health benefits. You will be responsible for the full fee at the time of session, unless we make other arrangements. I will provide you with the necessary documentation to file for reimbursement from your insurance company. In most cases, I am able to file your paperwork for you. If you are using out of network benefits or self-pay, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate per the "No Surprises Act" that went into effect on 1/1/22.

Questions for using insurance plans
Some questions to ask your insurance provider prior to intake:
- Do I have mental health benefits?
- What is my deductible? Has it been met?
- How many sessions does my plan cover?
- Do I need pre-authorization?
- What are my out-of-network benefits, if applicable?
- What is my copay or co-insurance?
- Does my insurance cover telehealth sessions, if applicable?
- Are my telehealth benefits paid at the same rate as in-office visits?
REduce or sliding scale
Reduced fee services are available on an individualized basis. Please request this need during your consultation or intake assessment. If you are self-pay, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate per the "No Surprises Act" that went into effect on 1/1/22.
Fees for other services
I charge a prorated $100/hour fee for additional services such as documentation or consultation with other professionals (ex. lawyers, disability), phone calls over 10 minutes, and requested research. This fee is not billable to insurance. If I am required to attend outside meetings on your behalf (ex. court), I charge $150/hour, minimum of 3 hours.
Forms of payment
For your convenience, I accept cash, checks, or credit cards (Visa, MC, AMEX, Discover). I accept HSA cards. Payment is due at the end of each session. There is a $25 fee for returned checks. If payment is an issue, it needs to be discussed before session. I use Ivy Pay (HIPAA compliant) to accept credit cards.
cancellation policy
- If you do not attend your scheduled appointment or have not provided at least 24 hours' notice of cancellation, you will be required to pay a $100 fee before your next scheduled appointment.
- If you miss more than 3 sessions, your case may be closed, and you will be provided with a list of referral for other providers.
- If you are more than 15 min late for your appointment, it will be considered a late cancel appointment.
- Regularly cancelled appointments, even on time, may result in termination of services. Successful therapy requires regular attendance and participation.
